Jr/Sr High School December Newsletter

MCW Families, As we head into December, we’re grateful for the mild start to winter—but we also know Minnesota weather can change quickly. Please remind your student drivers to slow down, stay alert, and give themselves extra travel time whenever road conditions are less than ideal. If you’ve recently changed your phone number or any other contact information, please reach out to the school office. Up-to-date information ensures you receive important weather alerts, including late starts or school closures. A quick reminder that we will continue using eLearning days when needed this year. Please take a moment to review the eLearning information included below so your student is ready in case winter weather impacts our school schedule. From all of us at MCW, we wish you and your family a joyful holiday season and a bright beginning to the New Year! GO MAVERICKS!

E Learning Days

What You Need to Know for 7th-12th Grade Students

  1. Students must join Advisory on Google Classroom at 10am to be counted present for Advisory period.  This is a short time to ask questions in order to be prepared for the day.
  2. Students must complete assigned assignments (provided via Google Classroom) for excused attendance for each class period.  Assignments are due no later than 2 school days following an eLearning day.  After day two, student attendance will be finalized.
  3. Students unable to connect due to device or connection issues must have guardians email or call the office, preferably during the day of the eLearning event. Without guardian notification, the student’s absence will be considered unexcused.

If and when possible, devices will be made available for students to check out (and return) prior to an eLearning day.  Unfortunately, not all events are predictable.  If your student is unable to connect and complete work due to a device issue on an eLearning day, please follow directions on #2 & #3 above.

Jr/Sr High School Band & Choir Concert

Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 7:00pm in the Jr/Sr High School gym

Families and the community are welcome to attend this event. Mr. Anderson has been working hard with students to learn and practice songs to share with families and the community.

Maverick Holiday Helpers

Each year, our district supports families by providing holiday gifts for children who might otherwise go without. This season, more than 170 MCW students and their siblings are eligible for assistance. Our local FFA Chapter, Mrs. Wohlhuter, Ms. Winter, and Mrs. Brackey help lead this important program. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to give back and help make the holidays a little brighter for families in need.

Jr/Sr High School November Newsletter

The 1st Quarter ends November 7th!

As students settle into the year, now's a great time to check in about how things are going - ask them what's working well, and what might need attention. While first-quarter grades don't determine final grades, they set the foundation for success. If concerns come up, remember our teachers are here to help! Parent-Teacher conference are November 20th from 4p-8p, but teachers are also available by email, phone, or before/after school. Mr. Neduzak, our Academic Dean, is another great resource for quick check-ins. We hoe your conversation is positive with your student - and if not, know that support is available.
